The dining room offers seating around the large dining table with plenty of crockery and glassware for all. The kitchen has an American style fridge freezer, a separate free standing drinks fridge, a dishwasher and electric cooker all fitted around the worktop manufactured from recycled glass bottles.  The 6 bathrooms have been recently updated with beautiful Calacatta marble and limestone alongside new fittings. The leisure facilities offer something for everyone. Whether it be the large premium hot tub with jets, fountains and waterfalls, or the games room with something for all ages. This property offers the perfect place to celebrate with your friends and family.

We loved our stay at Downside house for a hen do. The dining room was fab for big meals, the living space great for entertaining and we each had lovely comfortable beds too. The hot tub was an added bonus and the location meant we could easily drive to collect guests from Castle Cary.
We had a minor issue with hot water, but the hosts were easy to communicate with and sorted the issue as soon as we messaged them.

Eleanor’s house was very comfortable and warm (didn’t have great weather when we stayed) ideal for a large party. Plenty to keep young children entertained when stuck indoors. Comfy furnishings and beds. Lovely modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water.
We had an issue with the hot tub which was resolved as quickly as possible. Good communication with Eleanor and Matt.
Not ideal to find walks without using either public transport or car. Shepton Mallett within walking distance but on a busy road with narrow pavement in places.
Kitchen well kitted out, with modern equipment.
Loved the fact that though the house was very old, Eleanor has kept its charm and added a modern element for the guest’s comfort .

Matthew and Eleanor were both great, they were very flexible, they allowed us to check in slightly earlier, there were loads of towels, place was great.
we ran out of gas for BBQ and called the emergency number and gave us a new cannister, I cant fault the place and amenities
ONLY thing was that there was no coffee machine (despite promised), Matthew (host) said it leaked after the previous guests left but we all have to be flexible so we didn’t make a big deal about it, specially as they were very nice and flexible with us.
The bedrooms were big but the bathrooms were all GREAT, they were all newly refurbished.
