The New School Rooms is situated in the picturesque village of Box and is within easy reach of the World Heritage city of Bath, 6 miles away. This spacious apartment is positioned on the ground floor of a beautiful Georgian family residence, providing accommodation for up to 12 guests, and includes exclusive use of the heated swimming pool and premium hot tub: the perfect hub for families and groups looking to relax by the pool or explore the endless list of local attractions.
About this space
Upon entering you will be greeted by a recently refurbished, fully equipped kitchen, complete with marble flooring, a large 5 burner range cooker, dishwasher and washing machine. To the left of the kitchen is a very generous open-plan lounge and dining room measuring 4 x 10 metres: an impressive, flexible space that boasts plenty of traditional features. There are three comfy sofas, which are also sofa beds, a large dining table, a flat screen television, a sound system, a pool table, a blackboard and board games.
Sleeping arrangements
There are 3 bedrooms and 3 sofa beds, sleeping up to 12 guests: 1 twin room with en suite, 2 double rooms with en suite, and 3 double sofa beds in the main living area.
Pool, hot tub and outside space
The private heated swimming pool, premium hot tub and Mediterranean style terrace create a social haven with something for everyone to enjoy. These facilities are located 20 metres across the courtyard from the apartment and are for your exclusive and private use during your stay.
There is also an alfresco dining area at the front of the property, a perfect spot for afternoon tea or a barbecue. A barbecue and gas can be supplied on request.
The swimming pool is open from April to November and the hot tub is open all year round. The outdoor areas close at 9pm. Out of respect for our neighbours we ask that you refrain from playing music outside; speakers are provided inside which can be used until midnight, after which we ask that noise is kept to a minimum.
Guest access
You have your own private entrance and 24 hour check-in: the key is left in a lock box, with the code supplied by email. Early check-in and late check-out can on occasion be accommodated, chargeable at the same hourly rate as your stay.
Parking and travel
There is free parking available on site, and buses run to Bath or Chippenham up to 4 times per hour.
There is a 7.4kW Type 2 electric vehicle charger at the property, available through the CoCharger app, where its availability and charges are published.

Damp smelling bathrooms the worst being the front bedroom. Didnt realise it was a late 5pm check in when booking it especially when the hot tub and pool close at 9pm and isnt open again til 11am. Once the hot tub closes at 9pm all the lights go out exiting that area making it extremely dark and dangerous going down sets of steps back to the house.
Overall a pleasant stay, just not amazing.

Our stay had a mix of highlights and some areas for improvement. The pool was excellent, and we genuinely enjoyed having access to it. The host’s communication was great throughout our stay, and we were pleased to find plenty of towels provided for everyone. The three en-suite bedrooms and the main lounge area were a decent size and worked well for our group.
However, the house as a whole felt smaller than we expected from the photos, and the garden was also a bit small. We also found that the freezer was too iced up to be used to its full capacity, and there was only a limited supply of dishwasher detergent. We felt the house could benefit from a more thorough deep clean more often.
Overall, it was a good base for our trip, but the photos were a little deceiving regarding the overall size of the property, and the cleanliness and maintenance could be improved.
